Robert E. Hansen | Special Guest @ DTLA Art Night | Sippin’ Tiki

On August 1, 2024, artist Robert E. Hansen was the featured solo artist during DTLA ARTNIGHT, the celebrated monthly art event held in the heart of the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District.

The exhibition took place at Vinyl Gallery, located inside the historic Alexandria Hotel, and drew more than 250 guests for an evening of music, conversation, and creativity.

Hansen’s showcase featured his powerful and thought-provoking series “Emancipated?”, comprising three works titled “1863,” “1943,” and “2023,” each reflecting on the evolving meaning of freedom through generations. The exhibit also included his striking tribute to Bob Marley, titled “Love One.”

Throughout the evening, guests engaged with Hansen’s signature fusion of mosaic and text portraiture, augmented reality (AR), and storytelling, all while enjoying DJ sets and tropical-inspired cocktails from the gallery’s Tiki Bar.

The night celebrated art’s power to connect history, heritage, and humanity.
